Awards Ceremony & School Dance HALF DAY

The Awards Ceremony and school dance will be held on May 22nd at 6:00pm at 1069 US Hwy 27, Lake Placid. The dance will start at 7:30. The event will end at 9:00 pm. DJ Sucio will be our Guest DJ!

We will be having a pasta bar. Each class has been asked to donate certain items.

Grades 1 - 3 please bring in dry pasta. Grades 4 - 6 pasta sauce, white or red. MS - salad and garlic bread. HS - drinks and desserts. We appreciate your help and donations!

Last day of school is a half day!

Our last day of school is May 23rd - this is a half day. dismissal is at 12:00 noon.

Meet our Administration Team

Founder, Administrator & 4th - 5th ELA Teacher

Ms. J. Tucker

Ms. Tucker is the LPELL Co-founder and has incorporated many professional and life skills in her philosophy of education. She has been a preschool teacher, and an elementary, and middle school educator for over 19 years. She believes in developing “Life-long Learners” in her students. With a BA in Elementary Education from Madonna University, Ms. Tucker has been certified in All Subjects K-8; English, Early Childhood, Social Studies, and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy. She completed her work toward her Master’s degree through Liberty University in Pastoral Counseling and Christian Education.

IEPs’ and 504's are my passion and I love being able to work closely with my parents and students to find the best course of action to push them forward in their education. This position allows me to be creative and think outside the box. Which is exactly what some of us need. The freedom to “throw out the book” and do something different is what it’s all about.

Hello, my name is Mrs. Angie. I just recently relocated from the Miami area and I am so happy to be here. This school has been a blessing to myself and to my two children who attend here. Hi! I’m Mrs. Sharon Lenhardt. Welcome to my ELA class. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. I also have a Master’s in Education and am Gifted and ESOL Endorsed. This is my first year teaching in Lake Placid, but I have been teaching in Orlando for over 27 years! I have worked with ESE students, gifted students, highly-gifted students and K-8th grade. I believe all students can learn and with the proper guidance and the development of intrinsic motivation, they can thrive!

Miss Esther Gill

Miss Gills' passion for education has spanned 52 years, with most of them at Lake Placid High School. She also taught at Lake Placid Christian and Lakeview Christian School. Her courses include Spanish and Social Studies. She also is an adjunct instructor at South Florida State College, teaching Humanities online. Miss Gill looks forward to using her public school retirement years to help further student’s education in Highlands county as the Co-founder and teacher at Lake Placid E– Learning Lab.

Hi I'm Amanda Velasquez. This opportunity has been incredible for me. It is such an honor to work with someone so invested in her student's. Her knowledge is endless and it is such a privilege to assist her in giving back to these great students. There are so many student's with needs today, to be able to give back and to help guide them is a dream come true.

I have been an educator for more than twenty-five
years and has taught several different grade levels. At LPELL, she teaches middle grades math and Spanish. She guides students through the world of numbers, helping them to recognize patterns and relationships. She shows
students the connections of mathematical concepts to other disciplines such as science, art, and music. She emphasizes real world applications in all that they learn, helping them to develop a life-long love of learning.

High School Upper Mathematics Teacher

I went to West Virginia University earning a BA and MS in Economics. I taught at Lake Placid High School in the mathematics department for 34 years before retirement. Now I am pleased to volunteer at LPELL.

Ms. Lou Saugstad

My primary goal is to foster scientific literacy in students, encouraging them to understand and apply scientific principles. This includes developing their ability to inquire, question, and investigate the world around them. Beyond specific scientific knowledge, I aim to cultivate critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a lifelong love for science. Welcome Mr. Delaney! We are excited to have you.

As a journalism teacher I aim to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of journalistic principles and ethics, empower students to become informed and responsible citizens, and develop their critical thinking and communication skills. Focusing on fostering media literacy, teaching news gathering and writing techniques, and understanding the role of journalism in a democratic society.

Creative Writing

Ms. Loretta Finan

Loretta Finan is a fiction writer and workshop instructor in creative writing andstorytelling. After a long career in marketing and communications for companies suchas Johnson Smith Company, Kronos, and Slice International, she now writes andteaches fiction, memoir, and creative non-fiction. Her work has appeared in Reflections,Reed College Small Press, The American Anthology of Prose, Scribes MicroFiction,Paragraph Planet, and The Ekphrastic Review.

Hey!! I’ve missed all of you! I hope that you guys are having a great summer so far. I can’t wait to hear about all of your adventures. Ms. Tucker and I have been busy. Our class sizes are growing everyday and we have some fantastic new teachers that will be joining us next year. It’s going to be awesome!

August 30th is our 1st Field Trip Friday! Permission slips will be out soon. We will send them home with your students. They will also be available on our website.
